The Amen Break beat that was originally recorded in 1969 in a B side called Amen, Brother. The break is about 6 seconds long and was sampled, sped up, and there are a variety of permutations that accelerated to a feverish pitch in the 90s with Drum n Bass. It later became the beat upon which the electronic movement utilised through its inception in the 80s to Drum n Bass and now in 2014 it is one of the most iconic recognisable grooves out in the collective conscience.
