With my Skype drum lessons, I have made videos to supplement and provide a continuation of the Video lessons.  In some ways Skype lessons are superior to regular drum lessons owing to the amount of videos and other materials available between the teacher and the student. www.westlondon-drumtutor.com

Grade 5 rudiments and grade 2 rudiments are the order this week with two of my students learning flam and drag, amongst others.  I will post some videos soon.  The Trinity Guildhall rudiments and rudiment solo is a great exercise that I use in conjunction with my general teaching practice.  www.westlondon-drumtutor.com

Drum lessons bring the student to a vast variety of drum styles but the essential thing is to start playing without preference or prejudice regarding style.  The rudiments, technique and mechanics of doing drums is universal to all styles.  www.westlondon-drumtutor.com

I have another video with quaver bass; that is a bass drum with the first hi-hat, then a bass drum in between the first and second.  Followed by a hat and a snare and a hat on fourth, and then repeat.  http://youtu.be/MdTuYaPt5Lg

The first 3 grades as a drum kit student are mainly to establish technique, reading and knowledge of genres and their place in music history.  The next three are more about establishing a more deep level of proficiency whilst the last two really establish the student as one that is ready for a career in the music business as a session drummer, a teacher, or a performer in a function band or an original band.  www.westlondon-drumtutor.com  From west london drum tutor, drum kit tuition in Harrow, Greater London, UK

Drum fills are part of the expressive repertoire a drummer calls on to add colour and energy to their expression.  Have a look at this snare tom tom drum fill.  http://youtu.be/EgAwkhNyNow

Drum lessons involve precise coordination, musicality and a good measure of feel.  I frequently come across people who say without proper thought or analysis that drumming is a subordinate instrument that is nothing more and cannot stand alone as a legitimate instrument...  This line of thought is severely flawed and with an introductory drum lesson, a student gains much more than 'hitting' things to relieve frustration, they gain an ability to feel music, to read, to coordinate and to become a real musician. www.westlondon-drumtutor.com
